Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation Health Centre
The new Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation Health Centre design is a direct reflection of the commitment by Tla-o-qui-aht First Nations to build a model for sustainable building that is respectful of the surrounding Pacific Rim National Park Reserve and the UNESCO Clayoquot Sound Biosphere Reserve which the project is situated, while promoting and celebrating the spirit, language and form of their traditional culture.
The new 460m2 community health building includes spaces for community health, exercise, lobby and gallery area, medical exam, treatment, dental treatment, and administrative offices.
The project features in-floor radiant heating fed from a geothermal source district energy system, natural daylighting strategies and features a thermal chimney to drive natural ventilation.
